Gracie's Chicken fried Steak with gravy
created by: Anonymous

Instructions

  1. 1
To make steak: Combine 1 cup of flour with 1tsp salt and 1tsp black pepper in a plastic bag or on a plate. Beat eggs with 1/4 cup milk. Dip cube steaks into flour mixture, tap off excess then dip in egg mixture. Dip in flour one more time. Let this sit on parchment paper for at least 10 minutes before frying in hot vegetable oil till done.
  2. 2
To make gravy: melt butter over medium heat and add 1 tbsp flour. Let this cook for about two minutes. Add 1 cup cold milk and stir. Cook until thick and bubbly. Season to taste with salt and pepper. If you are a fan of onions and mushrooms, you can saute them in the butter till soft before adding the flour. Increase the butter by 1tbsp.
  3. 3
*Note: if you don't have cube steak available, you can use ground beef. You will have to be careful as it is quite delicate and will fall apart easily. Alternatively, you can also use a meat tenderizer on a piece of steak or just buy pre-prepared beef schnitzel.
